Viva<\/strong> announced this Thursday that it is joining the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) as a new member airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Living up to its name, transforming and adapting, Viva has set growth goals including opening 30 new international routes in the coming years, as well as committing to offer the lowest unit cost per passenger in the world, in an effort to always offer low prices that echo its winning Low Cost model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just this month, Viva celebrates 10 years of operation in Colombia and 5 years in Peru, where through its ‘Super Low Cost’ model it has managed to consolidate 46 domestic routes in Colombia and Peru, in addition to 13 international routes to the United States, Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Argentina and Brazil, destinations that are connected from Medell\u00edn – and its Rionegro Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda C\u00f3rdova International Airport – the airline’s main hub, with which it seeks to establish this city as a major HUB in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doubling the number of aircraft in its fleet is another of the goals pursued by the airline, which also has 23 aircraft, a fleet recognized as the most modern in Colombia, the second most modern in South America and the fourth most modern in the world, made up of A320 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Viva has reiterated its strong commitment to the transformation of air transportation and the democratization of the skies in the region, a mission that is completely in tune with the work ALTA has been undertaking for 42 years. As an association we seek to contribute from technical and regulatory aspects to continue bringing air transportation to more people, in more places in Latin America and the Caribbean in an increasingly sustainable and beneficial way for the economies of the region,” said Jos\u00e9 Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director and CEO of ALTA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 Viva requests authorization to operate 10 new international and 17 domestic routes.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Viva’s entry into ALTA, the association now has 42 member airlines representing more than 70% of the region’s air traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
