During DATE 2022, the new airline ARAJET <\/strong>and Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM) – a subsidiary of VINCI Airports – signed an agreement to establish the Jos\u00e9 Francisco Pe\u00f1a G\u00f3mez International Airport of the Americas (AILA) in the city of Santo Domingo as their operational base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the signed agreement, the airport will serve as ARAJET’s home base. In practice, this means that the airline will be basing its aircraft and crews there, and will have the city of Santo Domingo as its point of departure for all flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 New Dominican airline Arajet is looking for pilots.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are very excited to start flying from Las Americas International Airport, JFPG as a base airport for our operations. Being Santo Domingo the city that concentrates the largest population in the country, we know that it will be of great convenience for all our passengers to fly from the AILA located a few minutes from the city, as well as connecting with the beaches of La Romana and Punta Cana,” said the president of the board of directors of ARAJET, Victor M. Pacheco M\u00e9ndez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are happy that ARAJET has selected VINCI Airports as its partner to be based in Santo Domingo from Las Americas International Airport, JFPG. Undoubtedly, this is the beginning of a new era of travel that will be key to the expansion and growth of this terminal. We will be delighted to be able to offer passengers more flight options between the Dominican Republic and the rest of the Americas with ARAJET,” said Monika Infante, CEO of AERODOM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARAJET will be the first low-cost airline in the Caribbean, providing non-stop service to more than 40 destinations in the United States, Mexico, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. The company is led by a board and management team with extensive low-cost airline experience. It is backed by Boeing, as well as investors such as Griffin and Bain Capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ARAJET will begin flights in July 2022 with five new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, specifically the high-capacity 737-8-200 model. The airline purchased 20 MAX aircraft that are in the manufacturing process, with the option to acquire an additional 15 jets, which together with existing lease agreements totals a fleet of 40 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
