On September 1, 2002, Norwegian’s first flight between Oslo and Bergen took off, marking the birth of the new airline. During the last 20 years, the company has welcomed more than 300 million passengers on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norwegian is the largest airline in Norway with 4,000 employees, and with the Nordic countries as the main market, the airline today offers a large network of routes throughout Europe. In 2002, the company operated four domestic routes, and for the summer season of 2022, the airline operated 280 routes and 108 destinations in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNorwegian’s growth over the past 20 years would not have been possible without our passengers, and our goal, affordable flights for all, has been welcomed by travelers from day one. Not everyone in the industry was happy with the new competition, but since then, airfares have come down and Norwegian has made air travel accessible to a larger audience,\u201d said Geir Karlsen, Norwegian CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 20th birthday was celebrated at Oslo Airport in connection with the anniversary flight to Bergen, exactly 20 years after Norwegian’s first flight. The founder of the airline, Bj\u00f8rn Kjos, the Secretary of State, Jacob Bjelland, of the Norwegian Ministry of Transport, were present to participate in the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
