Wingo <\/strong>expects to resume and expand its operations with Venezuela, following the recent announcement by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics, INAC, to reopen its airspace to flights from Colombian territory. The company’s first flight is expected to take off on October 4, when the route between Bogota and Caracas may be resumed. The sale of tickets for this route will begin in the next few days, once the aeronautical authorities approve the itineraries that have already been registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to the pandemic, Wingo was the only Colombian airline to have regular air connections between the two countries. It offered four flights per week between El Dorado Airport in Bogota and Maiquetia Airport, which serves Caracas; which it had to suspend due to the border closures caused by the pandemic. Therefore, the company welcomes the decision of the Venezuelan aviation authority to reopen the skies for flights from Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two additional routes between Venezuela and Colombia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the reestablishment of the route between Bogota and Caracas, Wingo will offer two additional routes between Colombia and Venezuela. These are the Medell\u00edn-Caracas flights, starting on October 18, thus connecting the Venezuelan capital with the country’s second city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will also offer the new route between Bogot\u00e1-Valencia, once it is approved by the Venezuelan authorities, which is expected to be inaugurated on November 3. This will link the Colombian capital with this business and industrial city in the Venezuelan state of Carabobo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We celebrate the reopening of the skies between Colombia and Venezuela and we are committed to being a relevant air operator in that market. We will start operating between Bogota and Caracas with the same capacity we had before the pandemic. We will have the capacity that the market demands, as we know that it is an essential and necessary air connection connecting two sister countries,” said Eduardo Lombana, CEO of Wingo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the reactivation and launch of these new routes, Wingo reaches 28 international routes, consolidating its position as the Colombian low cost airline with the largest number of routes operated abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
