The Venezuelan government celebrated that the country has been elected this Saturday as a member of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the UN body in charge of overseeing the functioning of the global air sector and which has its headquarters in Montreal (Canada).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We join the great news and inform the glorious Venezuelan people and the world that our country was elected as a member” of the ICAO body, Foreign Minister Carlos Far\u00eda wrote on his Twitter account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This election is the result of high levels of preparedness of Venezuelan civil aeronautics, and the commitment and safety of the country’s air transport system,” Far\u00eda added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 Conviasa carried out the first flight operated by women in Venezuela.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Venezuela was elected as one of the members of the Permanent Council of the ICAO to “implement the guidelines of the General Assembly on air transport” until 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC), Juan Teixeira D\u00edaz, assured that, from this organization, the country will work “tirelessly for a civil, safe and fair aviation”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to Venezuela, 21 other nations, including Spain, Argentina and Mexico, were also elected to the Council, composed of 36 countries and responsible, among other functions, for appointing the Secretary General of ICAO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
