Spanish airports in the Aena network closed October 2022 with 23,981,550 passengers. This figure is 2.9 percentage points away from pre-pandemic levels, so 97.1% of the traffic recorded in October 2019 has already been recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, 208,817 aircraft were operated, representing a 99.3% recovery over 2019; and 90,517 tons of cargo were moved, representing a 14.5% decrease over the same month in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the total number of passengers registered in October, 23,923,292 corresponded to commercial passengers, of which 16,229,021 traveled on international flights, 6.1% less than in October 2019; and 7,694,271 traveled on domestic flights, 4.5% more than before the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cumulatively through the tenth month of 2022, a recovery of 87.2% in passenger traffic is achieved compared to the same period in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From January to October 2022, 208,171,665 passengers passed through the airports of the Aena network (12.8% less than in 2019), 1,895,350 aircraft movements were recorded (6.8% less than in 2019) and 825,502 tons of cargo were transported, which is 5.2% less than in the same period of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in the tenth month of the year with 4,808,601, down 12.4% on October 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airports, with 4,193,454 (-9.7% compared to 2019); Palma de Mallorca, with 3,063,475 (+4.8%); M\u00e1laga-Costa del Sol, with 1,891,392 (+1%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez, with 1,355. 308 passengers (-5.1%); Gran Canaria, with 1,136,211 passengers (+4.5%); Tenerife South, with 965,129 (+4.6%); Valencia, with 794,985 (+3.4%), and Ibiza with 774,150 passengers, an increase of 9.2% over the same month of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the number of operations, the airport that reached the highest number of movements in October was Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 31,931 (-14.4% over 2019), followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 27,374 flights (-11.1%); Palma de Mallorca, with 23. 579 (+9.2%); M\u00e1laga-Costa del Sol, with 14,108 (+7.3%); Gran Canaria, with 10,654 (+1.4%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez, with 9,047 (-4.1%), and Ibiza with 7,398 movements, representing an increase of 13.7% compared to the same month of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cargo<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding cargo traffic, the airport that recorded the highest volume during October was Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas, with 51,828 tons, down 3.7% compared to the same month of 2019. It was followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which recorded 13,728 tons (-20.7% compared to 2019); Zaragoza, with 12,099 tons (-42%) and Vitoria, with 6,249 tons, which translates into 0.6% more than in the same month of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
