Canadian airline WestJet <\/strong>announced Monday its new non-stop services to Tokyo, Barcelona (Spain) and Edinburgh (Scotland), as part of its comprehensive growth strategy for summer 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its expansive modern architecture, traditional roots, established links to Alberta’s tourism and business economies and connectivity to more than 50 destinations across the continent, Tokyo is a natural choice for the company’s first destination in Asia. With seasonal service of three flights per week beginning April 30, 2023, WestJet will be the only airline to offer trans-Pacific service to Asia direct from Alberta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Service from Calgary to Barcelona and Edinburgh will operate seasonally from May to October, up to three times a week. With the addition of these new routes, the airline will offer service to six European cities, increasing its capacity by 95% with flights to London Heathrow and Gatwick, Paris, Rome and Dublin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is an exciting day for WestJet Group, our passengers and partners as we deliver on our new strategy and demonstrate our focus by increasing our capacity in Calgary by more than 25% by 2023. Beginning with the expansion of our intercontinental routes, future announcements will focus on domestic and North American additions that will offer even more affordable travel options to travelers in the new year,” said Alexis von Hoensbroech, CEO of WestJet Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
