In 2022, air transportation in Colombia had record passenger mobilization figures. As of November, during this year, 43,583,088 passengers have flown to and from the country’s air terminals. According to the figures reported by the airlines, 29,860,945 passengers flew to and from domestic destinations, and 13,722,143 passengers flew to and from international destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the figures for 2019, the year in which the highest number of passengers mobilized was recorded with 41.3 million, it represents a growth of 16.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comparatively, the period between January and November 2022 with respect to the same period in 2021, the market grew 64.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Paipa, Boyac\u00e1, the Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Francisco Reyes Gonz\u00e1lez highlighted the growth of the international air market which had an increase of 6.1% and 101.2% with respect to 2019 and 2021 respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger mobilization projection for the end of the year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this New Year’s Eve weekend, about 528,179 passengers are expected to travel through the country’s air terminals. About 356,285 passengers will travel to and from domestic destinations and about 171,894 passengers will travel to and from international destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cities with the highest air traffic during this year-end period will be Bogot\u00e1, Rionegro, Cali, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Barranquilla, San Andr\u00e9s, Pereira, Bucaramanga and C\u00facuta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit to the Juan Jos\u00e9 Rond\u00f3n airport in Paipa, Minister Reyes emphasized that the Government’s goal is to improve the infrastructure of intermediate airports as an integral solution to the population’s air connectivity difficulties. He added that it is a priority to strengthen the tourist offer and the promotion of regional strategic points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
