The Venezuelan government plans to open an air route between Brazil and Margarita Island during the first quarter of 2023, while taking steps to activate direct flights between Caracas and Sao Paulo, through the Venezuelan state-owned airline Conviasa, according to the Minister of Transport, Ram\u00f3n Vel\u00e1squez, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Margarita is a destination that has been the object of great advances in the air sector and for the first quarter of this year we would already be projecting to connect Brazil with Margarita”, said the official in a telephone contact with the state channel Venezolana de Televisi\u00f3n (VTV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement of this air opening comes after bilateral relations between Venezuela and Brazil were formally reestablished, following the inauguration of Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva as president of the South American giant last Sunday, January 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this regard, Vel\u00e1squez assured that these new destinations will allow Venezuela to boost the tourism sector, in order to “guarantee” the growth of “the non-oil economy”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As regards domestic connections, the minister announced that during the first three months of the year, Conviasa will activate flights from the country’s capital to M\u00e9rida and San Fernando de Apure, reported EFE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
