American Airlines<\/strong> announced Thursday a profit of $127 million in 2022, which contrasts with a loss of $1,993 million in 2021, reflecting the rebound experienced by the airline, which in 2020 recorded a historic loss of $8,885 million, due to the impact of the pandemic on its operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In operating terms, the airline’s profit was $1.607 billion, compared to a loss of $1.059 billion in the previous period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of operating revenues, in 2022 the airline collected $48,971 million, 63.9 % more than the $29,882 million achieved in 2021. In this section, passenger ticket sales increased to 44.568 billion, 71 % more than in the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last three months of 2022, which Wall Street investors were looking at the most on Thursday, American Airlines earned 803 million, when in the same period of 2021 it lost 931 million dollars, EFE reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline noted that operating revenues between October and December 2022, which totaled 13.189 billion, up 39.9% from the same period last year, have set a quarterly sales record for the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The American Airlines team has delivered extraordinary results over the past year,” the airline’s chief executive officer, Robert Isom, congratulated in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isom insisted that the company has regained profitability and highlighted the important role of the festive periods of the last part of the year, from Thanksgiving – celebrated on the last Thursday of November – to Christmas, when it is the time when Americans multiply their trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for this year’s outlook, the company said it expects earnings per share to be between $2.5 and $3.5, taking into account “demand trends and the current fuel price forecast and excluding the impact of special items.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
