{"id":136307,"date":"2023-02-02T19:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-02T19:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=136307"},"modified":"2023-02-02T22:05:10","modified_gmt":"2023-02-02T22:05:10","slug":"avianca-updated-its-pet-transportation-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2023\/02\/avianca-updated-its-pet-transportation-policy.html","title":{"rendered":"Avianca updated its pet transportation policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In order to align with industry standards worldwide and always thinking about the safety of all its passengers, <strong>Avianca<\/strong> updated its Pet Transportation Policy, which came into effect on February 1, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The adjustments include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conditions for the transportation of emotional support dogs in cabin:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have a maximum weight of 10 kg including the crate, in which they must be transported during the entire flight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The carrier must be flexible, comfortable for the pet and must be located under the seat in front of the passenger.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The dimensions of the carrier must not exceed 55cm in length, 35cm in width and 25cm in height.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2023\/01\/avianca-to-connect-medellin-with-armenia-and-aruba.html\">Avianca to connect Medellin with Armenia and Aruba<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emotional support dogs weighing more than 10kg, will travel in the hold inside the crate, provided by the passenger, free of charge and with all the conditions that guarantee a safe trip. It is important to clarify that dogs and cats of brachiocephalic breeds are not transported in the hold; for this reason, only those that comply with the weight limit of 10kg and the conditions to travel in the cabin will fly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>General conditions for the transport of animals:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All passengers must make travel reservations for their pets (dogs, cats, service dogs, etc.) at least 48 hours prior to the departure of their flight, through the Call Center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transportation of pets is subject to availability, with a limit of 6 in cabin per flight. Transportation in the hold is also subject to availability depending on the type of aircraft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;At Avianca, our priority is to guarantee safety in all operations. We decided to update our policy based on the industry&#8217;s experience, so that both passengers and animals travel well and, above all, safely,&#8221; said Frederico Pedreira, Avianca&#8217;s Chief Operating Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recommendations for pet travel in cabin and hold:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Have all documents to comply with the sanitary requirements of origin, connection and destination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There must be a responsible period of familiarization and training of pets with their crate to ensure a safe and quiet trip in the cabin or hold.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The client may carry a travel kit with all the elements (dishes, leashes, among others)
