A United Airlines <\/strong>Boeing 777 suffered an abrupt loss of altitude shortly after takeoff from Kahului Airport on the Hawaiian island of Maui, bound for San Francisco, California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When just over a minute had passed since takeoff, flight UAL1722 entered a “steep dive” that took it from 2,000 feet (609 m) to 775 feet (236 m), according to data from flight tracking site Flight Radar 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The aircraft recovered, resumed climb and continued its flight to San Francisco where it landed safely,” Flight Radar 24 adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
