Air India <\/strong>announced Tuesday a mega order for up to 540 aircraft, 290 Boeing and 250 Airbus aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline said that it placed an order with Boeing for 190 737 MAX, 20 787 Dreamliner and 10 777X aircraft. The agreement includes options for an additional 50 737 MAX and 20 787-9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India has also contracted with Boeing Global Services, an aircraft lifecycle support service, including digital solutions, spare parts and landing gear exchange programs, pilot and maintenance technician training, aircraft modifications and other services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once completed, this will be Boeing’s largest order in South Asia and a historic milestone in the nearly 90-year partnership between the two companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India also announced Tuesday that it will order 250 Airbus aircraft. The commitment includes 140 A320neo and 70 A321neo single-aisle aircraft, as well as 34 A350-1000s and six A350-900s, which will mark a new era for the country as the new long-range jet celebrates its debut in the Indian market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deliveries will begin with the arrival of the first A350-900 by the end of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Air India’s selection of Boeing’s family of airliners demonstrates their confidence in our products and services in the world’s fastest growing aviation market, and their decision will support jobs at Boeing factories in Washington state, South Carolina and throughout our supply base,” said Stan Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India is on the verge of a revolution in international air travel and we are honored that our partnership and our aeronautical solutions will write that new chapter for the country’s air connectivity,” says Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India is thus advancing its strategy of renewing and expanding its fleet to sustainably address the rapidly growing domestic and international air travel market in South Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
