Norse Atlantic Airways<\/strong> announced that it will add Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Boston to its summer flight schedule from London’s Gatwick Airport this year to cater to the post-pandemic travel boom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline, which began operations last summer, hopes to succeed where Norwegian Air failed by offering affordable transatlantic flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger demand for travel has soared in the last 12 months and is expected to return to pre-pandemic levels on most routes by 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The summer is going to be good,” CEO Bjorn Tore Larsen told Reuters<\/a> before announcing the new routes on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline said it would fly daily to Los Angeles from Gatwick from June 30 with return economy fares from \u00a3430 including taxes. The other new destinations would have similar fares and slightly less regular services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier already flies to New York’s JFK airport and plans to start flying to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale in May. When it adds the new destinations later this summer, it will fly to more U.S. cities than any other airline from Gatwick, Britain’s second-largest airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norse said it had made a “significant investment” at Gatwick and employs 370 people there, where it has five of its current fleet of 10 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gatwick’s transatlantic connections suffered during the pandemic following the bankruptcy of Norwegian and after Virgin Atlantic stopped flying from the airport and focused on its Heathrow operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
