{"id":137148,"date":"2023-03-02T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=137148"},"modified":"2023-03-02T23:56:45","modified_gmt":"2023-03-02T23:56:45","slug":"lufthansa-group-orders-22-long-haul-aircraft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2023\/03\/lufthansa-group-orders-22-long-haul-aircraft.html","title":{"rendered":"Lufthansa Group orders 22 long-haul aircraft"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>Lufthansa Group<\/strong> announced Thursday that it will order more of its latest-generation long-haul aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total there will be 22 aircraft: ten Airbus A350-1000s, five Airbus A350-900s and seven Boeing 787-9 &#8220;Dreamliners. seven Boeing 787-9 &#8220;Dreamliners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The orders were approved today by the Supervisory Board of parent company Deutsche Lufthansa AG. The aircraft in question will be delivered starting in the middle of this decade. Based on list prices, the order amounts to a total of around USD 7.5 billion and is in line with the Group&#8217;s medium-term financial planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2023\/02\/lufthansa-presents-new-first-class-suite-plus.html\">Lufthansa presents new \u201cFirst Class Suite Plus\u201d<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lufthansa Group is also in advanced negotiations to acquire additional long-haul aircraft that could become available in the shorter term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;With the purchase of a further 22 Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s, we have secured the delivery of more than 50 state-of-the-art long-haul aircraft for the member airlines of the Lufthansa Group since the pandemic began,&#8221; commented Carsten Spohr, CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With today&#8217;s orders included, the Lufthansa Group will take delivery of 108 state-of-the-art long-haul aircraft such as the Airbus A350-1000, Airbus A350-900, Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 777-9 in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new aircraft will also replace older aircraft types. In the medium-term future, the Boeing 747-400, Airbus A340-600, Airbus A340-300, Boeing 777-200, Boeing 767-300 and Airbus A330-200 will be retired from service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the agreement on the purchase of the new aircraft, Airbus and Lufthansa have also signed a &#8220;Memorandum of Understanding&#8221; to further strengthen their cooperation in the field of sustainability and future technologies. This includes intensifying the use of sustainable aviation fuels, further optimizing operations through more efficient flight management and exploring the use of hydrogen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, and including the advanced short- and medium-haul aircraft of the Airbus A320neo family, the Lufthansa Group currently has more than 200 firm orders for new aircraft to be delivered in the coming
