The Civil Aeronautics, through the Aerocommercial Projects Evaluation Committee, approved the application of JetSmart<\/strong> to begin the process to obtain the operating permit to provide domestic scheduled public transport service for passengers, cargo and mail in Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the application approved by the authority, the airline would have its main base in the city of Bogota, and would operate Airbus A320neo family aircraft to cover 27 domestic routes between the airports of Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, Cali, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Bucaramanga, San Andres, Pereira, Monteria, Cucuta, Pasto and Pereira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 Satena began regular flights between Bogota and Caracas<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Evaluation Committee, taking into account the frequencies proposed for the 27 routes requested, the company must present a compliance plan according to the number of aircraft and the number of routes to be operated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The routes and frequencies that were contemplated in the request by JetSmart Airlines are the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company, within three (3) months from the notification of the decision, must comply with the requirements set forth for the subsequent process and provide the corresponding documentation. The Civil Aeronautics clarified that this authorization is only an approval to continue with the process to obtain the operation permit and is subject to compliance with the legal requirements. In order to start operations, the airline must obtain the certification within a non-extendable term of two (2) years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, and with respect to the clarification presented by the company regarding a possible integration between JetSmart and American Airlines, the Civil Aeronautics Authority pointed out that any request regarding a business integration is subject to the evaluation process by the Colombian Aeronautics Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
