Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport handled 2,863,751 passengers during the first two months of this year, of which 1,347,326 travelers corresponded to the month of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The results to date are in line with projections. Tocumen International Airport expects to exceed 17 million passengers in 2023. We are seeing a consolidation in the recovery of the passenger and cargo air transportation industry,” said Raffoul Arab, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport. However, he believes that we must continue to focus on opportunities and administrative discipline. “The volatile macroeconomic environment worldwide is defining the development of the market and the airlines,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destinations and markets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of international connections, in February Tocumen maintained direct routes to 83 destinations, through 17 commercial airlines offering service to major cities in the Americas and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

February results indicate that of the total number of passengers using the Tocumen terminal, 67% were connecting passengers. In addition, 10,655 aircraft movements were handled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to data provided by the Statistics Department of Tocumen International Airport, the markets with the greatest regional movement in February were South America with 44%, followed by North America with 28%, the Caribbean with 11%, Central America with 10%, and European markets with 7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional terminals and cargo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cargo terminal handled 15,272 metric tons of goods during the second month of the year 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Panama Pacifico, Enrique Malek, Scarlett Martinez and Enrique A. Jimenez regional terminals, managed by Tocumen, S.A., registered in February a traffic of 65,707 passengers and 1,835 aircraft operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the regional terminals, Panama Pacifico registered the highest movement with 35,491 passengers processed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
