Aena<\/strong>, through its subsidiary Aena Desarrollo Internacional, has signed this Wednesday the concession contract for 11 airports in Brazil, located in four states (S\u00e3o Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and Par\u00e1) for a term of 30 years, with the possibility of five more years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After today’s signing, ANAC (Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency) must ratify the contract to begin the airport management transition process. Once all the formalities have been completed, Aena will start the management of the 11 airports in a progressive manner, starting with those with the least traffic. The transition is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aena’s Chairman and CEO, Maurici Lucena, expressed his satisfaction because “one of the company’s main objectives is to deepen its internationalization and, with this operation, Aena becomes the manager of the largest network of concessioned airports in Brazil. This highlights the experience and operation of Aena’s network model”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 11 concessioned airports are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aviator Lt. Col. C\u00e9sar Bombonato – Uberl\u00e2ndia\/MG
Maestro Wilson Fonseca – Santar\u00e9m\/PA
Jo\u00e3o Corr\u00eaa da Rocha – Marab\u00e1\/PA
M\u00e1rio Ribeiro – Montes Claros\/MG
Caraj\u00e1s – Parauapebas\/PA
Altamira – Altamira\/P
Mario de Almeida Franco – Uberaba\/MG

The largest of them, Congonhas Airport, is the second busiest airport in Brazil. It is located in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, the largest financial center in Latin America and Brazil, the largest economy in the region and the ninth largest in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award of the 11-airport group is the largest international development operation in the history of Aena, which, under the Aena Brasil brand, will manage 100% of six other airports in the Northeast of the country from 2020 and has a presence in the United Kingdom, where it manages 51% of London-Luton airport, and in Mexico, Colombia and Jamaica. Aena thus consolidates its leadership in airport management worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
