The administration of President Joe Biden on Tuesday denied recent media reports about the alleged resumption of direct commercial flights between the United States and Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The removal of the flight ban by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) allows U.S. civilian operators to use Venezuelan airspace, if necessary, to safely divert and avoid hazardous weather conditions typical of the region. This action does not permit commercial flights to and from Venezuela,” a U.S. State Department spokesperson responded to AlbertoNews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And to expand a bit on the above, I will also point out that the FAA’s removal of the NOTAM is separate and distinct from existing Department of Transportation orders, which currently prohibit air transportation of passengers or cargo between any airport in Venezuela and the United States, including connections in third countries, by U.S. and foreign air carriers,” they concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
