As part of its commitment to connectivity in the territories where it operates, LATAM Airlines <\/strong>confirmed the increase, as of August 1, of passenger and cargo air operations between Santiago and Rapa Nui (Easter Island), which will result in an offer of six weekly frequencies in each direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision responds to the coordinated work between the public and private sectors to support the reopening of tourism, the relaxation of sanitary measures on the island and the progress in the maintenance of the local airport runway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are very pleased to be able to announce this news, especially to the Rapa Nui community, who have made us feel the urgency of taking care of this air bridge with the Island, and thus continue to support its tourist vocation and promote economic reactivation for its inhabitants,” said Juan Jos\u00e9 Toh\u00e1, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, LATAM Airlines Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Almost a year ago we decided to lift the Tapu and reopen the island after 870 days of closure. During all that time we have worked permanently and closely with LATAM with the objective of having a safe reopening. We have been evaluating the conditions and especially the maintenance work on the runway. The good news is that today, together with LATAM, we can announce this increase of flights for the month of August and then gradually see if we can increase them as much as possible”, assured the Mayor of Easter Island, Pedro Edmunds Paoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
