The Colombian low-cost airline Wingo<\/strong> announced Wednesday the creation of a subsidiary in Panama: Wingo Panama. This new company already has the operating certificate issued by the Civil Aeronautics Authority of Panama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new airline will begin operations on August 11, when the Panama City – David route takes off, the first domestic route in Panama to be operated under the Wingo brand, and represents the incursion of the low-cost model in the Panamanian domestic market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are very excited to continue our growth process and to take the Wingo model and service, which has proven successful in Colombia, to other parts of Latin America. With the emergence of Wingo Panama, we now have two airlines operating under the Wingo brand; airlines that, in turn, belong to Copa Holdings, one of the most solid aeronautical groups in the Americas,” said Eduardo Lombana, CEO of Wingo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wingo’s growth in 2023<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With the launch of the Panama – David route, under the operation of Wingo Panama, the airline completes six new routes implemented in 2023, representing an increase of 17% and being the year of greatest growth in its operation. This recent launch is in addition to the routes connecting Bogota with Barranquilla, Bucaramanga and Pereira, in the Colombian domestic market, as well as the two new international routes: Cali – Aruba and Bogota – Caracas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will continue to demonstrate that the low-cost model is sustainable when managed in the right way, with appropriate growth schemes according to the needs of the market. The launch of our airline in Panama is a new step in the right direction,” said Lombana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Projected new routes by the end of 2023<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wingo will also concentrate its efforts on continuing to offer more low-cost alternatives to Colombians. For this reason, the airline is making progress in the implementation of a greater capacity in the domestic market, which will be launched soon. Likewise, it is taking the necessary steps with the corresponding aeronautical authorities in order to offer a greater number of routes between Colombia and Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
