Six years after its bankruptcy, the German Air Berlin<\/strong> brand has been sold to Sundair airline founder Marcos Rossello.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 21, the brand was taken over by Berlin-based Air 41. This company develops software for small and medium-sized tour operators and airlines, whose founder is Rossello.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Yes, we have acquired the rights to the Air Berlin brand. However, it has not yet been decided what to do with it. There are some ideas. Anything is possible,” Rossello confirmed to aeroTELEGRAPH<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rossello himself describes it as unlikely that he will make Air Berlin the new brand for his existing airlines. “Sundair is already well established,” he explains. In addition to the German vacation airline, he also operates a Croatian subsidiary, Fly Air 41, which flies mainly for Sundair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recall that on August 15, 2017, Air Berlin filed for insolvency after years of losses. A few weeks later, Germany’s once second-largest airline ceased operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insolvency administrator Lucas Fl\u00f6ther then tried to sell the brand. In February 2018, he put it up for sale along with 180 other protected company trademarks and some 1,000 internet domains, but found no buyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
