JetSMART and American Airlines<\/strong> join forces to create the largest network in the Americas with the launch of seven new codeshare flights between the United States and Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of this alliance, it is now possible for travelers wishing to visit the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu to easily purchase tickets from the United States to Cusco -by way of Lima-. It is also possible to purchase code-share tickets to cities such as Arequipa, Chiclayo, Cajamarca, Piura, Tarapoto and Trujillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connection between Peru and the United States is the latest milestone in the airlines’ alliance that offers customers a complementary network by joining American’s global presence with JetSMART’s 77 routes in South America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In mid-June, American and JetSMART began selling codeshare tickets to several Chilean cities, including Calama, Iquique, Temuco, Antofagasta, Concepci\u00f3n and Puerto Montt via Santiago. Code share tickets to both Chile and Peru can be booked through American’s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American’s AAdvantage loyalty program, which JetSMART expects to join later this year, will allow customers of both airlines to benefit from special offers, promotions and passenger mileage accrual in several South American markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are pleased to expand our South American network with our alliance with JetSMART, which will give our customers access to more destinations and travel options in Peru,” said Scott Laurence, American’s Senior Vice President of Alliance Strategy. “Whether customers are traveling for leisure or business, offering more flight options to South America is central to our strategic alliance.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of JetSMART, this alliance seeks to fulfill the promise of bringing air transportation to every corner of South America. “Since the beginning, we have innovated in the sector, with ultra-low fares and new routes. “Today, we take another step in our evolution by making history with the launch of an alliance between JetSMART and American Airlines, which creates new travel opportunities between Peru and the United States. In addition, our customers will be able to earn miles and fly on the JetSMART network and connect to American Airlines’ worldwide network. As the fastest growing airline in South America, this partnership strengthens and positions us to achieve our vision of reaching 100 million passengers and 100 aircraft by 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later this year, the alliance’s route network could be expanded to Argentina, once governmental approval is obtained, and to Colombia, when JetSMART begins domestic operations in that country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
