The Civil Aeronautics has issued Resolution No. 01668 in which it determines the social routes for the Satena airline, in order to be subsidized through the budget of the Ministry of National Defense, for the provision of the essential public service of air transportation for the operation of 141 social air connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connections have been designed to move passengers to and from remote, marginalized and vulnerable areas of the country. These new routes are in addition to the 41 currently operated by the airline in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In accordance with the National Development Plan, the National Government may grant subsidies to Satena S.A., as a state-owned airline, to provide the essential public air transportation service in those social routes in which it is the sole operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the 141 approved routes are those with high potential for tourism and economic development. Some of them are those connecting Medell\u00edn with Caucasia, El Bagre, Capurgan\u00e1, Buenaventura, Arauca, Montel\u00edbano, Necocl\u00ed, Mariquita, Mompox, and Aguachica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also noteworthy are the air connections between: Barranquilla – Tol\u00fa, Tol\u00fa – Bucaramanga, Oca\u00f1a – C\u00facuta, Puerto Carre\u00f1o – Yopal, San Jos\u00e9 del Guaviare – Mit\u00fa, Bogot\u00e1 – Mariquita, Oca\u00f1a – Bogot\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Civil Aeronautics also prioritized the operation of 9 new domestic routes to and from San Andres and Providencia, for the development of tourism in the archipelago, allowing the movement of passengers to the cities of Bogota, Barranquilla, Medellin, Apartad\u00f3, Corozal, Quibd\u00f3, Cartagena, Santa Marta and Riohacha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, in order to guarantee safe air operations on these social routes, the airfield projects in Araracuara, San Jos\u00e9 del Guaviare, Mit\u00fa, Corozal, Riohacha, Ituango, Villavicencio and Vig\u00eda del Fuerte, among others, will be part of the subsidy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
