Early this morning, LATAM <\/strong>resumed direct flights between Santiago de Chile and Melbourne, Australia. Until now, the only route offered by the group to that country was Sydney, which includes a stopover in Auckland, New Zealand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This service had been suspended in April 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After its resumption, the company expects to transport close to 80,000 passengers between the two continents at the end of its first year of operation. The Santiago-Melbourne route is the group’s longest route, exceeding 11,000 kilometers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are pleased to resume this route, which today has become the great connection between South America and Oceania for Latin Americans, as more and more people choose to travel to Australia to visit its diverse beaches and landscapes, and also, more and more young people are migrating to Australia for Work and Holiday, to improve their level of English and to live a multicultural experience. Therefore, we are pleased to offer our passengers more connection options between both continents, through this second route to Australia, and with the quality that distinguishes our service internationally,” said Mar\u00eda Paz Villasante, Commercial Strategy Manager, LATAM Airlines Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flights from the Chilean capital to Melbourne will have three frequencies, departing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 00:55 (local time), arriving at destination at 05:30 (local time) the following day. From Melbourne, departures will be every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 12:25 (local time), arriving in Santiago at 11:20 (local time) the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flights will be operated in Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with capacity for 300 passengers in Premium Business, Economy+ and Economy cabins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
