{"id":146013,"date":"2023-12-04T14:30:59","date_gmt":"2023-12-04T14:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=146013"},"modified":"2023-12-05T11:43:27","modified_gmt":"2023-12-05T11:43:27","slug":"ups-to-build-new-hub-at-hong-kong-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2023\/12\/ups-to-build-new-hub-at-hong-kong-airport.html","title":{"rendered":"UPS to build new hub at Hong Kong Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Global logistics services provider <strong>UPS<\/strong> and the <strong>Hong Kong Airport Authority<\/strong> have signed an agreement for the U.S. company to build a new hub at Hong Kong International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The new hub will serve as UPS Hong Kong\u2019s main facility for processing and sorting imports, exports, and transshipments, to and from Europe, the U.S., and other parts of Asia.<\/p>\n<p>The hub is expected to be completed by 2028 and will be built on a land parcel of 20,000 square metres with direct access to aircraft. The facility is being designed to handle close to 1 million tons of annual capacity, giving UPS and its customers around the world better and more reliable connectivity to Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area1, and the growing Asia Pacific consumer market.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2023\/11\/historic-virgin-atlantic-makes-first-transatlantic-flight-with-100-saf-fuel.html\">Historic: Virgin Atlantic makes first transatlantic flight with 100% SAF fuel<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHong Kong continues to be an engine of growth and a critical part of UPS\u2019s global smart logistics network,\u201d said Daryl Tay, president of UPS North Asia District. \u201cThis new hub, along with our existing operations at Shenzhen Bao An Airport, demonstrate our continued commitment to Asia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A fully automated facility, the hub will be powered by state-of-the-art sorting and scanning technology and boasts environment-friendly features. This latest investment is part of UPS\u2019s expansion plans to support Greater Bay Area growth, and better serve evolving customer needs and shipping demand across its air network.
