The strike called by the unions for January 5, 6, 7 and 8, coinciding with the Epiphany holiday, has forced Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum <\/strong>to cancel more than 400 flights, affecting 45,641 passengers. In total, the Group has managed to provide a solution to 90.9% of the passengers affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the moment the cancellations occurred, Iberia has been working to relocate as many passengers as possible to other flights so that they can make their journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, accommodation has already been found for 36,621 travelers, 80.2% of them, and work continues to relocate the rest according to the possibilities, taking into account the complexity of the dates, just after Christmas, and the high occupancy factor of the flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to relocating passengers from cancelled flights, the airline has positively addressed the requests of 4,900 passengers (10.7%), who preferred to claim reimbursement of their tickets to avoid the inconvenience caused by the strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Once the strike was called and ratified after the failure of the mediation in the SIMA, we were forced to cancel flights since last Friday and, even if there is a last minute cancellation, it would be impossible to reschedule them, because the technical complexity would no longer leave any margin and passengers are already relocated or have requested the reimbursement of their tickets. The mere call of the strike has therefore caused a very important damage, especially to thousands of travelers, but also to more than 90 airlines, including Iberia itself and all those of the IAG Group, which have been forced to cancel hundreds of flights”, says Juan Cierco, Iberia’s Corporate Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers can request their changes through Iberia’s website, the travel agencies where they have made the purchase or the company’s Customer Service Center, which has reinforced its staff, but where they may encounter longer waiting times than usual. The telephone number to call from Spain is 900 111 500. The numbers to call from outside the country can be consulted on the airline’s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iberia asked all passengers to check-in in advance through the website and to arrive at the airports earlier than usual due to the foreseeable problems that will occur at the airports due to the strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
