Wingo<\/strong> culminates 2023 with a historic passenger growth of 26%, close to 3 million travelers, being the year of highest increase since its start of operations in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline thus achieves an increase in passengers that is in line with its capacity growth, taking into account the number of additional seats implemented on its route network during 2023. Wingo’s capacity closed the year at 3.3 million available seats in scheduled operation, growing by 23% vs. 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This increase is not only based on the eight new routes implemented in 2023, being the year of greatest expansion of the airline, but also on the incorporation of more and more frequencies on routes in the Colombian domestic market, where Wingo is already the third most important player with close to 6% of the domestic market share, according to Aerocivil data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We closed 2023, which for Wingo in particular was very positive, with significant growth both in seats, which reflects our offer, and in passengers, which reflects the market’s acceptance of our product. Today we are a player in constant growth, with 37 routes in 23 destinations in Latin America. Thanks to those three million travelers who trusted us and who allow us to be the only low-cost airline available in Colombia today,” said Eduardo Lombana, CEO of Wingo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 starts with more growth for Wingo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline is getting ready to start 2024 with a new expansion effort, as on January 16 it will inaugurate its first new route of the year. The Medell\u00edn – Caracas route will start operations from Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda C\u00f3rdova International Airport with three frequencies per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route that will connect the capital of Antioquia with Maiquet\u00eda, the air terminal that serves Caracas, will have a total of 4,500 seats per month between both routes. This operation represents Wingo’s second route in Venezuela, after the Bogot\u00e1-Caracas route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
