American Airlines<\/strong> said Friday that it received tentative approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to start nonstop flights between New York (JFK) and Tokyo-Haneda Airport, making it the only U.S. carrier to operate the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline said it plans to begin flights between JFK and Haneda in the coming months. Japan Airlines, American’s partner in the oneworld alliance, currently operates this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More nonstop service to Tokyo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new service between JFK-Haneda will add to American’s daily service to the Japanese airport from Dallas-Fort Worth and twice-daily service from Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
