Iberia Express<\/strong> closed 2023 having surpassed the figure of seven million passengers carried throughout the year for the first time, a milestone that adds to the deployment of a historic capacity with more than 41,100 flights operated, 13.7 percent more than in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The low cost has put nearly 8 million seats on sale in 2023 and, in June last year, recorded another milestone in its history: 50 million passengers since the start of operations on March 25, 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 38% of the total number of flights operated in 2023 corresponds to the most important market for the airline, the Canary Islands, where Iberia Express made more than 3.1 million seats available to its customers throughout the year, 10.3% more than in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Balearic market, during 2023, the airline exceeded 7,700 flights operated and more than 1.5 million seats, an increase of 7.6% and 6.5% respectively compared to 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carlos G\u00f3mez, CEO of Iberia Express pointed out that “in a year in which we have managed to exceed the figure of 50 million passengers transported since the start of our operations in 2012, Iberia Express has also consolidated its position as the leading operator at Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas airport, and on routes between Madrid and the Canary and Balearic Islands. In these almost twelve years we have successfully developed a business model that combines all the advantages of low cost in terms of efficiency, with the benefits and service quality of a network company”, and with an excellent operation that is shown in our high punctuality rates and customer recommendation index. My congratulations to all Iberia Express employees for making this possible”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diversification into international markets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During 2023, Iberia Express flew nearly 30 routes, with the addition of Tel Aviv, Cairo and Marrakech to its map of destinations, which has led to a greater diversification of its offer to international destinations, which now account for nearly 30.5% of the airline’s total capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

50% of the fleet to be new generation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In line with its commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, in 2023 the company made further progress in renewing its fleet, so that by 2024 half of its aircraft will be new-generation, the most efficient Airbus aircraft. Iberia Express currently has 12 A321Neo, the most advanced and sustainable Airbus model for short and medium-haul flights, with engines that are 50 percent quieter and reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 18 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, Iberia Express was the most punctual airline in Europe, according to the consulting firm Cirium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
