{"id":147672,"date":"2024-01-31T15:00:19","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T15:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=147672"},"modified":"2024-01-31T23:28:34","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T23:28:34","slug":"virgin-atlantic-and-china-eastern-announce-codeshare-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2024\/01\/virgin-atlantic-and-china-eastern-announce-codeshare-agreement.html","title":{"rendered":"Virgin Atlantic and China Eastern announce codeshare agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Virgin Atlantic and China Eastern<\/strong> announced a new codeshare agreement Tuesday, strengthening vital business and leisure connections to East Asia and providing greater access to more destinations throughout China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase of the agreement will allow customers booking through Virgin Atlantic to connect seamlessly from the airline\u2019s Heathrow to Shanghai services to other destinations in China on one ticket, including Chengdu, Changsha, Qingdao, Shenzhen and Xi\u2019an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2024\/01\/china-eastern-takes-delivery-of-its-fourth-comac-c919-jets.html\">China Eastern takes delivery of its fourth COMAC C919 jets<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>China Eastern customers will also, subject to government approval, soon have the opportunity to connect via Heathrow onto Caribbean and African destinations, including Jamaica, Nassau, Lagos, Cape Town and Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>China Eastern is a fellow member of the SkyTeam alliance, which Virgin Atlantic joined last year. Since November, the two airlines have been conveniently co-located at Shanghai Pudong Terminal One. Here, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold and Silver members and China Eastern Miles members can take advantage of SkyPriority services, including priority check in, boarding and extra baggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recall that Virgin Atlantic resumed services to Shanghai on May 1, 2023, following the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur new codeshare with China Eastern, a fellow SkyTeam partner, will serve continued demand for travel to the region and strengthens our commitment to China and East Asia. We know these agreements bring plenty of benefits to our customers, from increased network scope to China and beyond, to reciprocal loyalty rewards for our Flying Club members\u201d, Juha Jarvinen,
