The airline Iberia <\/strong>has launched a facial recognition boarding service on its emblematic Madrid-Barcelona-Madrid route, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Travelers will be able to enjoy access through the security filter and the boarding gate without having to take out their cell phone and\/or show the necessary documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The service is available to all Iberia Plus card holders. To register, they must access the private area of the Iberia app and complete the following steps: enter their personal data, take a photo of their ID card, scan the document’s chip and take a photo of their face using their cell phone. This process is done only once and then, for each trip the customer makes, he only has to associate his boarding pass to the biometric profile. It is also possible to complete the registration process at the airport kiosks or on the AENA application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only requirements to be able to register for the facial recognition service are to be over 18 years of age and to have a Spanish DNI (DNI 3.0. with NFC technology to communicate with the cell phone) or an electronic passport from the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six boarding gates at Madrid-Barajas airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas airport, Iberia has six boarding gates with facial recognition: J46, J50, J52, J54, J56 and J58. In addition, it has 2 kiosks in the check-in area (Puente A\u00e9reo-Air Bridge and Business) and four biometric doors in the security filter (two in the main access, one in the Air Bridge and one in the Fast Track).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport, the airline has a biometric boarding gate (A02), two gates at the security filter and a kiosk in the check-in area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facial recognition boarding does not affect groups, which will maintain their usual order. Upon arrival at the gate, each customer will choose whether they prefer conventional boarding pass access or the biometric gate (provided they are registered in the program and have associated their boarding pass with their biometric identity during the check-in process).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, biometric boarding is available for cell phones with iOS operating system and, soon, it will also be available for Android phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is necessary to remember that, although this touchless service allows you to board without the need to present documentation, customers must carry it in case they are required to do so at some point during the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photo of the identity document is stored in the AENA servers with the proper encryption systems and can only be consulted for the operation of this program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
