{"id":164709,"date":"2024-04-20T13:30:05","date_gmt":"2024-04-20T13:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=164709"},"modified":"2024-04-20T16:10:21","modified_gmt":"2024-04-20T16:10:21","slug":"chile-vina-del-mar-airport-expansion-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2024\/04\/chile-vina-del-mar-airport-expansion-announced.html","title":{"rendered":"Chile: Vi\u00f1a del Mar Airport expansion announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This Thursday, the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric Font, announced the expansion and improvement of the <strong>Vi\u00f1a del Mar Airport<\/strong>, a project with a total investment of more than 76 billion pesos that will allow the airport to operate as an aerodrome for commercial flights to and from different cities in the country and Argentina by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is estimated that this airport will transport 900,000 passengers per year, thus boosting tourism and employment generation in the Valpara\u00edso Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2024\/03\/latam-launches-wifi-on-flights-within-chile.html\">LATAM launches wifi on flights within Chile<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The works include the construction of a new passenger terminal of more than 4,000 square meters, green areas, parking lots, extension and widening of runways, as well as operational support facilities such as a control tower, electrical substation, warehouses, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This new airport is a tremendous opportunity to continue the momentum and growth of Valpara\u00edso. As a government we are aware of the strategic importance of this aerodrome for the region, and that is why it is a great joy to be able to announce the modernization plan for the airport network led by the MOP (\u2026) Today we are starting the design, opening the bidding process, and it will be the turn of another government to inaugurate it&#8221;, commented President Boric Font.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the domestic routes planned for the future airport in the Valpara\u00edso Region are flights to and from the cities of Antofagasta, Calama, La Serena, Concepci\u00f3n and
