at <strong>S\u00e3o Paulo&#8217;s Guarulhos airport<\/strong>, the country&#8217;s largest, due to security breaches, authorities said Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) imposed the sanction after finding that the airport concessionaire had not yet resolved the problems discovered during two inspections, which, according to the agency, put aircraft operations \u201cat risk\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the failures, the agency pointed to signaling problems that make it difficult for pilots to see during night operations or on rainy days, as well as deficiencies in oversight tasks while aircraft are on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a quarter of 2024<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the consortium formed by Brazil&#8217;s Invepar and South Africa&#8217;s ACSA does not provide a solution in the next 60 days, the number of flights allowed will be reduced by 5% from the current 2,714 weekly flights, Anac warned in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guarulhos airport carried just over 41 million passengers in 2023, well ahead of the next in the national ranking, Congonhas airport, also in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo, which saw 22 million passengers pass through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being the most used airport in Brazil, Guarulhos was the worst evaluated airport under private concession in terms of the quality of services offered to travelers, according to an Anac report published earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport was inaugurated in 1985 to expand the limited supply of Congonhas and its management was given to private initiative in 2012 for a period of 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With information from
