Iberia and Volaris<\/strong> announced Friday that they have signed a comprehensive codeshare agreement to increase connectivity between Europe and Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this alliance, customers from Europe will be able to connect to 25 additional destinations within Mexico operated by Volaris, and vice versa, from these 25 Mexican destinations they will be able to connect to Iberia flights between Mexico City and Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The destinations included in this codeshare agreement within Mexico are: Acapulco, Cancun, Chetumal, Chihuaha, Ciudad Juarez, Cozumel, Culiacan, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Huatulco, Ixtapa Zihuata\u00f1ejo, La Paz, Los Mochis, Mazatlan, Merida, Mexicali, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Escondido, San Juan del Cabo, Tapachula, Tijuana, Tuxla Gutierrez and Villahermosa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This increased connectivity will be perfectly complemented by the record capacity that Iberia has deployed this year between Europe and Mexico. Specifically, the Spanish airline has three daily flights, which will mean more than 772,000 seats throughout the year, 17% more than the figures it had in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With this collaboration agreement we reaffirm our commitment to Mexico, one of our main markets. Thanks to it, we offer better connectivity to all customers traveling to Mexico with Iberia, while at the same time making it easier for all passengers from Mexico to travel to Europe in a more comfortable and efficient way,\u201d said Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez Sol\u00e1s, Iberia’s Commercial, Customer, Network Development and Alliances Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By signing this codeshare agreement with Iberia, we are providing passengers with a greater variety of options to explore Mexico. This alliance will expand connectivity via Mexico City, reaching 25 domestic destinations within our network,\u201d said Holger Blankenstein, CEO of Volaris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement is still subject to approval by Mexican and Spanish authorities. Code-share flights between Iberia and Volaris are expected to be available beginning in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
