The aeronautical union began this Friday a nine-hour strike that will last until 2:00 p.m., creating a complicated day both at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and at Ezeiza International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core of the claims is the search for a salary increase, but there has not yet been an agreement between the unions and Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas. \u201cIt is unacceptable to delay any longer and the proposals are not only insufficient but also provocative\u201d, said the Airline Pilots Association (APLA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strike forced the airline to lift ticket change penalties to compensate more than 15,000 people who had flights scheduled for this morning. As at least 150 flights were cancelled, the company asked passengers not to show up at the terminals during the protest time slot. \u201cThe international flights, Miami and Madrid, which were scheduled for 8 and 13:30 respectively, were rescheduled for 17 and 17:30\u2033, told the Infobae portal from the press area of Aerolineas Argentinas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fabi\u00e1n Lombardo, president of Aerol\u00edneas Argentinas, said that the strike led by Pablo Bir\u00f3 \u201chas no logic\u201d. In addition, the head of the flag carrier described the strike as \u201cwild\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe unions have not understood that Argentina has changed\u201d, said Lombardo. And he also revealed how much the aviators earn: \u201cThe pilots who answer to Bir\u00f3 and this Friday earn between 3 and 10 million pesos per month, depending on their seniority and the trips they make. The average salary is $5,200,000 per month,\u201d he revealed on Radio Mitre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
