Iberia<\/strong> resumed this Sunday its flights between Madrid and Tokyo, the only direct connection between Spain and Japan, after it stopped operating it in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route, the longest operated by the airline with a duration of 14 hours, will have three weekly frequencies that will be operated in Airbus A350 aircraft with capacity for 348 passengers in three classes: Business, Premium Economy and Economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route is resumed with the aim of expanding Iberia’s presence in Asia, following the good results of the daily flight to Doha, Qatar, inaugurated in December 2023. This operation is part of the promotional actions promoted by Madrid Turismo by IFEMA, driven by the Community of Madrid, the Madrid City Council and IFEMA MADRID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reopening to this market is expected to generate, in the first year of operation, 100 million euros to the GDP of both countries and create about 1,900 direct and indirect jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe opening of a new route always fills us with excitement, but this one even more so since we had to suspend our flights to Tokyo due to the pandemic. From today we offer the only option that connects Spain directly, non-stop, with Japan, and we do it three times a week, which means about 90,000 seats between the two countries in the first year of operation. Our ambition is to increase flight frequencies by 2025 to offer many more possibilities to travelers,\u201d said Marco Sansavini, President of Iberia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
