KLM Catering Services (KCS)<\/strong>, a Dutch airline company, on Friday became the first company of its kind to put two fully electric and refrigerated trucks into operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the introduction of these trucks, KCS contributes to KLM’s objective of achieving emission-free ground handling by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At KLM Catering Services, we like to be at the forefront of testing the latest technologies. I am therefore proud that we are the first airline caterer in the world with two 100% electric catering trucks. It is fantastic that our team will be testing these electric trucks in the coming period”, Michiel van der Eijk, CEO KLM Catering Services said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INTENSIVE TESTING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

KCS has asked two suppliers of airport equipment, DOLL and Mallaghan, to each develop an electric catering truck, and car company Volvo built the chassis. In the coming period, KCS will extensively test these two prototypes. The performance of the trucks, the impact on the catering process and user-friendliness will be evaluated. The insights gained during this testing period will help to further optimise the trucks and contribute to efficient integration into daily operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
