On Sunday morning, a passenger attempted to hijack a Volaris<\/strong> plane flying from El Baj\u00edo, in central Mexico, to the border city of Tijuana and divert it to the United States, but the crew detained him and handed him over to Mexican authorities, according to the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVolaris reports that this morning on flight 3041, which covered the route from El Baj\u00edo to Tijuana, a passenger attempted, through the use of force, to divert the plane to the United States,\u201d the company said in a statement on social networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the information, the crew acted in accordance with established security procedures in the event of a hijacking and in accordance with protocol. Therefore, the plane was diverted to the Guadalajara airport, where the airline placed the passenger \u201cat the disposal and custody of the competent authorities\u201d in accordance with Mexican law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the airline informed that passengers, crew and aircraft are safe, and especially detailed that the crew ensured the safety of the passengers, who were able to continue with the flight to their final destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the statement, Volaris said that it has become a plaintiff in a possible legal proceeding against this person, \u201cto ensure that he faces the full weight of the law, to its ultimate consequences,\u201d and regretted the inconvenience that this situation caused to passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No details of the passenger’s identity or his motives for attempting to divert the plane to the United States have been released so far, EFE reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
