{"id":170037,"date":"2024-12-12T12:30:15","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T12:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=170037"},"modified":"2024-12-12T15:33:42","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T15:33:42","slug":"chile-santiago-airport-breaks-record-and-reaches-25-million-passengers-transported-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2024\/12\/chile-santiago-airport-breaks-record-and-reaches-25-million-passengers-transported-in-2024.html","title":{"rendered":"Chile: Santiago airport breaks record and reaches 25 million passengers transported in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Santiago Airport (Chile)<\/strong> registered this Wednesday a historic milestone in its more than 57 years of operation: it reached the record of 25 million passengers transported in a year, which exceeds by 1.5% the previous mark of 24,630,742 that was recorded in 2019, prior to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To celebrate this milestone, the Minister of Public Works, Jessica L\u00f3pez; together with the General Manager of Nuevo Pudahuel, Nicolas Claude; the Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of LATAM, Juan Jos\u00e9 Toh\u00e1; the Secretary General of the Civil Aeronautical Board, Mart\u00edn Mackenna, and the head of the DGAC airport, Juan Luis Rodr\u00edguez, received the 25 millionth passenger, Mary P\u00e9rez, who landed on a flight from Osorno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 25 million, 13.6 million were for domestic flights and another 11.3 million for international travel, which represented the largest growth: 24.6% more than last year and 10% over those of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2024\/12\/latam-resumes-flights-between-santiago-chile-and-bariloche.html\">LATAM resumes flights between Santiago (Chile) and Bariloche<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The General Manager of Nuevo Pudahuel, Nicolas Claude, highlighted the joint work carried out by the Nuevo Pudahuel concessionaire, together with the authorities and the airlines to bring back the routes and frequencies lost due to the pandemic. \u201cWe want to continue increasing operations, with more routes and airlines that will increase travel options for Chileans and consolidate Santiago as a highly attractive international destination, increasing tourism and business travel, as well as cargo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Christmas and New Year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data provided by the airlines, during the year-end holidays, 1,062,809 are expected to travel between December 20 and January 2, 2025. Of these, 51.6% (548,480) will travel to domestic destinations, while 48.4% (514,329) will travel outside Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highest flow days will be Thursday, December 26 and January 2, with 78,151 and 81,165 passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the favorite travel destinations for these dates within the country, Calama (73,857 passengers), Antofagasta (68,634) and Puerto Montt (65,454) stand out in the first places. In international destinations, Buenos Aires (70,255), Lima (68,073) and Sao Paulo (56,781) lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"related-topics\">Related Topics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<div
