This achievement not only strengthens its leadership position but also reflects the airport&#8217;s ongoing growth and modernization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Historic Record of Passengers and Air Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, Tocumen managed an impressive total of 19,250,384 passengers, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year. This growth marks an unprecedented milestone in the airport&#8217;s history and the regional aviation industry. Additionally, the 152,813 air operations carried out this year represent a 7% increase from 2023, while the transportation of 216,653 metric tons of cargo and mail also grew by 4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Global Connectivity and Popular Destinations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tocumen directly connects Panama to over 90 destinations in the Americas and Europe. In 2024, the most frequented destinations were Bogot\u00e1, Colombia, with 1,042,610 passengers, Miami, USA, with 903,995 travelers, and Medell\u00edn, Colombia, with 730,314 users. These numbers highlight Tocumen&#8217;s strategic importance in the international connectivity network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2025\/01\/dohas-hamad-airport-reaches-record-passenger-numbers-in-2024.html\">Doha\u2019s Hamad Airport reaches record passenger numbers in 2024<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>General Manager Jose Ruiz Blanco emphasized the technological and infrastructural advances that have positioned Tocumen as a symbol of modernity and progress. Among the year&#8217;s standout achievements, the global consultancy firm Cirium recognized Tocumen as the world&#8217;s most punctual medium-sized airport in 2024, with an OTP (On-Time Performance) index of 90.34%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Expansion Plans and New Routes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Jos\u00e9 Ra\u00fal Mulino announced new routes that will further enhance the airport&#8217;s connectivity. The German airline Condor will begin operations between Germany and Panama in June 2025, and United Airlines will launch a new direct route between San Francisco and Panama City in May of the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With its modern facilities, infrastructure expansion, and historic achievements, Tocumen International Airport not only drives Panama&#8217;s economy but also reinforces its role
