In 2024, Brazilian civil aviation reached an important milestone, consolidating itself as one of the best years in the sector’s history, with a total of 118.3 million passengers transported across domestic and international markets. This remarkable performance was only surpassed by the 2019 record, when 118.6 million passengers were moved. The increase in traffic post-COVID-19 pandemic is a clear sign of the recovery and continuous growth of the aviation sector in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5% Annual Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to 2023, the increase was approximately 5%, with an additional 5.6 million passengers. This information is drawn from the updated demand and supply report by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Records in the International Market<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international market stood out exceptionally. The number of international passengers reached 24.9 million, and 891.6 thousand tons of cargo were moved, unprecedented figures since the historical series began in January 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustained Domestic Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the domestic sphere, 93.4 million passengers were recorded, marking a 2.1% increase compared to 2023. Furthermore, domestic cargo closed the year with 488 thousand tons, representing a growth of 9.7% compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

December 2024 Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

December was particularly successful, with 10.7 million passengers transported in both markets, a figure close to the December 2019 record. Specifically, the international market experienced a 15.8% increase in passengers and an 11.7% increase in cargo compared to December 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the domestic market, 8.4 million passengers were moved, a 4.9% increase, although cargo experienced a slight decrease of 3.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increase in Demand and Supply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The demand in the sector, measured in RPK (revenue passenger kilometers), grew by 10.8% in 2024 compared to 2023, while supply, measured in ASK (available seat kilometers), increased by 10%. International demand showed an even more notable growth of 15%, with supply growing by 14.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
