The President and CEO of Aena, Maurici Lucena, announced at an event held at Tenerife South Airport that future investments in the airports of the Canary Islands archipelago will exceed 1 billion euros. This initiative demonstrates Aena’s strong commitment to the connectivity and development of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting with Local Authorities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before making this public announcement, Lucena held meetings with the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the President of the Tenerife Island Council, Rosa D\u00e1vila, along with Vice President Lope Afonso. During these meetings, investments for the airports on the island of Tenerife were specifically discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also participating in the meetings were senior executives from Aena, including Javier Mar\u00edn, Executive Vice President; Elena Mayoral, General Director of Airports; Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Cuenda, General Commercial and Real Estate Director; Luis L\u00f3pez Chap\u00ed, Regional Director of Aena’s airports in the Canary Islands; and the directors of Tenerife’s airports, Juan Carlos Peg (Tenerife South) and Francisco Javier Osm\u00e1n (Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budget Allocation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aena’s Vice President, Javier Mar\u00edn, detailed that the projects for the island of Tenerife will have a budget of approximately 800 million euros. Of this amount, 550 million will be allocated to Tenerife South Airport, while 250 million will be assigned to Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport. The drafting of the construction projects is expected to be completed this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modernization of the Airports<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The modernization of Tenerife South Airport’s facilities includes the introduction of new technologies and the architectural integration of the terminal under a single roof, which will allow for more natural light. This redesign aims to turn the airport into a representative symbol of the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport aims to improve the efficiency of airport processes while respecting the architectural uniqueness of the building. According to Javier Mar\u00edn, “these projects will significantly increase the quality and image offered to users, enhancing the passenger experience and making both airports representative symbols of entry and exit to the island.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability and Environmental Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aena has emphasized that all planned actions will be carried out with rigorous environmental criteria, safeguarding the surroundings. Maurici Lucena highlighted that these investments are a clear demonstration of the entity’s commitment to sustainable development and strengthening the connectivity of Tenerife and the Canary Islands archipelago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project at C\u00e9sar Manrique-Lanzarote Airport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Lucena announced that the designs for the improvements at C\u00e9sar Manrique-Lanzarote Airport are well advanced. This project includes enhancements to terminals T1 and T2, as well as the platform area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
