LATAM Airlines Brasil <\/strong>announced this Friday that it will strengthen its presence in the Northeast region of the country with the launch of a new non-stop route between Fortaleza and Lisbon, Portugal. This service will operate from April 7 to October 20 of this year, marking the return of direct flights between Northeast Brazil and Europe since 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route will be operated once a week with Boeing 787 aircraft, which offer a capacity of 30 passengers in Premium Business class, 57 in Economy+, and 213 in Economy. The flight will have an average duration of 7 hours and 30 minutes, departing from Fortaleza on Mondays at 06:15 (local time). From Lisbon, the flight will depart at 18:30 (local time).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boost to Tourism and the Economy of Cear\u00e1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made during a meeting between LATAM and the Government of the State of Cear\u00e1, attended by Governor Elmano de Freitas, Secretary of Tourism Eduardo Bismarck, and Eduardo Macedo, responsible for Public Affairs at LATAM Brasil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Cear\u00e1 is the closest point to Europe in Brazil. This new LATAM flight will be crucial to increasing tourism, stimulating new business, and generating more employment and income for the people of Cear\u00e1,” commented the Governor of Cear\u00e1, Elmano de Freitas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eduardo Macedo added that LATAM is committed to expanding its flight offerings in a sustainable manner to strengthen the economy of the Brazilian Northeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LATAM’s Expansion in Fortaleza<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LATAM is currently the main operator at Fortaleza Airport, with approximately 200 weekly flights. The airline also operates the Guarulhos-Juazeiro do Norte and Guarulhos-Jericoacoara routes, each with 10 flights per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operating season of the Fortaleza-Lisbon flight, LATAM will also maintain two weekly flights on the Fortaleza-Miami route and one weekly flight to Fortaleza-Santiago, a route that was inaugurated in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
