Iberia Maintenance<\/strong> has closed the year 2024 with positive results in its main business areas: Engines, Heavy Maintenance, and Components. These achievements solidify its position as a benchmark in aeronautical maintenance in Southern Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Engine Overhauls and Heavy Maintenance in 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During 2024, the company certified a total of 205 engines, representing a 15% increase compared to 2023, when the figure was 177. A key aspect has been the full operational capability in the overhaul and repair of Pratt & Whitney GTF\u2122 engines, expanding its service to legacy engines such as the CFM56, V2500, and RB211-535.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding Heavy Maintenance, Iberia Maintenance carried out over 180 overhauls, maintaining levels similar to the previous year. This reflects the trust clients place in the company’s experience and capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the company has reviewed and repaired 28,000 aircraft components, in line with last year’s figures. It has incorporated 40 new families of component “capabilities” to the more than 4,400 already existing, covering technologies in tire, hydraulic, nacelle, IDG, electrical, rescue, and engine accessory workshops. Among the new developments, the maintenance of wheels and brakes for the A321XLR stands out, an aircraft that Iberia added to its fleet in November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Client Expansion and Growth of the Human Team<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iberia Maintenance’s growth in 2024 was also reflected in the signing of nearly 30 new contracts and the addition of 12 new clients, 90% of whom come from outside the IAG group. This reaffirms its international reputation as a key partner in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the increase in clients, the company has expanded its human team, adding 200 new specialized professionals. This growth demonstrates the company’s commitment to quality employment and the strengthening of its technical and operational capabilities. In total, the workforce now stands at 2,200 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commitment to Training and Excellence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 also marked the 20th anniversary of Iberia Maintenance’s training center, approved by the State Aviation Safety Agency as an EASA 147 center. This allows it to provide type training for professionals with Aircraft Maintenance Licenses in the categories of Mechanics or Avionics, adding new type ratings (fleet-engine) to their licenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a team of over 50 instructors, support staff, and content developers, the center delivered more than 218,000 student-hours in 2024, representing a 45% growth compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability: A Strategic Pillar in 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iberia Maintenance has reinforced its commitment to sustainability through innovative initiatives. In collaboration with Moeve, it has begun using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on its engine test bench, reducing over 131 tons of CO2 emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, at its La Mu\u00f1oza facilities, in partnership with Getting Greener, it has installed self-consumption power plants, enabling an annual savings of 2.63 million kWh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this positive balance, Iberia Maintenance reaffirms its commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and innovation, preparing to face new challenges and opportunities in the aeronautical sector in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
