The Dominican airline Arajet <\/strong>announced the opening of ticket sales for its new direct routes connecting Santo Domingo and Punta Cana with San Juan, Puerto Rico. With prices starting at $84 one way (taxes included), the airline is enhancing air connectivity between these destinations starting in June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strategic Expansion and Strengthened Connectivity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made in collaboration with the Government of Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, and the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic. This alliance aims to improve air connectivity not only between the two countries but also with the rest of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first flight from Santo Domingo to San Juan will take off on June 4, while the route from Punta Cana will begin operations on June 6. According to V\u00edctor Pacheco M\u00e9ndez, CEO and founder of Arajet, these direct connections will be historic and will strengthen bilateral relations, tourism, and the diaspora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economic Impact and Growth Projection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Arajet’s arrival in Puerto Rico is made possible by the Open Skies agreement between the United States and the Dominican Republic, as well as the support of Puerto Rican authorities. Governor Jenniffer Gonz\u00e1lez Col\u00f3n highlighted that this operation will have an estimated economic impact of $10.4 million and will add approximately 58,000 additional seats to Puerto Rico’s air inventory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Willianette Robles Cancel, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, emphasized that these new routes will strengthen the Caribbean’s competitiveness as a tourist destination. Additionally, they will facilitate the development of multi-destination packages and contribute to the growth of passenger traffic in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Promotion and Expanded Connectivity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate the opening of its new destination, Arajet launched the “VAMOPAPR” promotion, available from February 17 to 28, 2025. This offer provides a 30% discount for flights to and from San Juan with travel dates starting in June through March 28, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, the airline will offer connections from San Juan to 11 destinations in its network through its hubs in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. Passengers will be able to fly to countries such as Aruba, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flights to San Juan will operate with two weekly frequencies from Santo Domingo and four from Punta Cana, solidifying Arajet’s presence in the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
