Norwegian Air <\/strong>announced on Monday an agreement to acquire ten Boeing 737-800 aircraft that are currently part of its leased fleet. This strategic operation, expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, represents a key step in the consolidation of the airline and its long-term vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Smart Financial Strategy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The agreement has been reached under favorable conditions, which will allow Norwegian to improve its financial flexibility and reduce the overall ownership costs of the fleet. According to Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, “The overall conditions achieved are attractive for Norwegian, and the transaction fits perfectly with our long-term ownership and fleet strategy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The acquired aircraft are already part of the airline’s operational fleet, ensuring a seamless transition and smooth integration into its expanding route network. This move will enable Norwegian to achieve significant savings both in the short and long term, while also providing greater flexibility in future fleet planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financing and Economic Benefits<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The purchase of the ten Boeing 737-800 aircraft will initially be financed with the company’s available cash. Subsequently, Norwegian plans to secure long-term financing through a combination of financial arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the transaction is completed, the airline expects to record a non-recurring gain of approximately 570 million Norwegian kroner. This benefit stems from the price achieved in the acquisition and the corresponding reduction in existing lease obligations. Additionally, the transaction will generate recurring net savings in financing costs of approximately 200 million Norwegian kroner annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this strategy, Norwegian not only optimizes its costs but also strengthens its competitiveness in a highly dynamic sector. The airline continues to bet on sustainable growth and a solid financial structure that will ensure its success in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
