Air India<\/strong> has received its first fully modernized narrow-body aircraft, an Airbus A320neo (VT-EXN), marking a key milestone in its transformation plan. This aircraft is the first of 27 units inherited during the airline’s acquisition that have been selected for a complete overhaul under the new standards set by the carrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The VT-EXN has been outfitted with new seats, carpets, curtains, and a refreshed design that enhances the passenger experience. Its cabin now features a three-class configuration and a new livery that reinforces the company’s visual identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Ambitious Modernization Program<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The refurbishment project is part of a $400 million investment program led by the Tata Group, aimed at updating Air India’s entire fleet, including both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft. The airline plans to complete the renovation of the 27 A320neo aircraft by the third quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this modernization, Air India will operate the refurbished A320neo aircraft on domestic and short-haul international routes, alongside 14 new units of the same model recently added to its fleet. This will ensure a consistent and enhanced experience for passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features of the Refurbished A320neo<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each aircraft is equipped with 8 Business class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats with extra legroom, and 132 Economy seats. Passengers will also enjoy more comfortable interiors, increased space, improved lighting, and modern features such as supports for portable electronic devices and USB ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expanding Modernization to Wide-Body Aircraft<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India’s refurbishment plan is not limited to the A320neo. In the coming months, the airline will also upgrade its wide-body fleet, including 40 B787 and B777 aircraft. The first Dreamliner is scheduled to enter the modernization process next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this initiative, Air India aims to solidify its position as a modern and competitive airline, offering passengers an enhanced flight experience that aligns with global standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
