Virgin Australia <\/strong>has revealed the interior design of its new Embraer 190-E2 aircraft. This fleet, which will be operated by Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA), will feature a cabin with both Business and Economy class options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first aircraft, named “Coral Bay,” is already in the assembly process, with four of the eight purchased units set to be delivered within the next 12 months. The debut is scheduled for October of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger Comfort and Flexibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nathan Miller, Executive General Manager of VARA, highlighted the advantages of the new design: “We\u2019ve chosen a dual-class configuration that, combined with our extra-legroom Economy X option, gives us three distinct products. This allows us to deploy the aircraft for both regular commercial flights and charter operations, depending on demand.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cabin design features a 2+2 seating arrangement in Economy, eliminating middle seats and offering greater comfort. Additionally, each passenger will have ample space in the overhead compartments. These improvements represent a significant upgrade over the Fokker 100 models, which the E190-E2 will replace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new jets will also come equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, onboard entertainment via personal devices, and power outlets at every seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reduced Environmental Impact and Greater Efficiency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the standout features of the Embraer 190-E2 is its fuel efficiency, with emissions reduced by up to 30% compared to the Fokker 100. Its aerodynamic design also ensures the lowest noise levels in its segment, a key benefit for communities near airports with early morning flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preparations Underway for Service Entry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

VARA has already begun staff training. Maintenance training is being conducted in Perth, while pilots will receive instruction at Embraer\u2019s center in Singapore. New job openings for pilots and support staff have also been announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of operations, the airline is planning routes that combine charter flights with commercial services within Western Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martyn Holmes, Commercial Director of Embraer Commercial Aviation, expressed enthusiasm about the E190-E2 joining Virgin Australia\u2019s fleet: “These aircraft will revitalize and enhance Virgin Australia\u2019s regional services.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, VARA plans to open a new hangar at Perth Airport, which will serve as the base for its engineering team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
