WestJet <\/strong>announced this Friday the addition of three Boeing 737 aircraft from Sunwing Airlines<\/strong> to its fleet. The planes, identified with the numbers 393, 395, and 396, are already in service, transporting both WestJet passengers and Sunwing Vacations customers. This move marks the visible start of the integration process between the two Canadian airlines, which is expected to be completed by May 29, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transfer of these first aircraft to WestJet\u2019s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) was finalized in February of this year. At the same time, members of the Sunwing Airlines team have also begun integrating into WestJet\u2019s operational structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening the Fleet Amid Boeing Delays<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This addition comes at a critical time. WestJet has faced delays in aircraft deliveries from Boeing, and the integration of Sunwing\u2019s fleet allows the company to maintain operational capacity without disruption. In total, all 18 Sunwing aircraft are expected to be transferred to WestJet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the integration process, some aircraft may still display differences in exterior branding and interior design, but they will gradually be refurbished to meet WestJet\u2019s product standards. This includes updated seating and Premium and Extended Comfort cabin configurations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

43 Aircraft to Be Renewed by 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

WestJet will not only absorb Sunwing\u2019s aircraft but also those from Swoop and Lynx. In total, 43 aircraft will undergo a full cabin reconfiguration before the end of 2025, with the goal of unifying the customer experience under a single value proposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott Wilson, Vice President of Operations and leader of Sunwing\u2019s integration into WestJet, highlighted the progress made so far: \u201cThis is a significant milestone in our integration efforts and another step forward in enhancing sunny and vacation destination offerings for more Canadians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson also acknowledged the collaborative work of both airlines\u2019 teams to ensure a smooth transition: \u201cWe are truly proud of our teams\u2019 ongoing efforts to bring our organizations together and realize our dream of operating as one team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this integration, WestJet strengthens its position as one of Canada\u2019s leading airlines in the vacation segment while navigating global manufacturing challenges through strategic internal solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
